I may not be the target audience for middle grade anymore but Tui T。 Sutherland still writes enjoyable books。I really enjoyed this! At first I was worried that I wouldn't because。。。Queen Snowfall? What does she have to do with ANY of this? I was so confused about what would happen。 But I actually think I liked this book better than some of the others。 Maybe it was because views change, I got older, etc。 but I felt like it was just sort of a fun, easy read with an enjoyable protagonist。I really l I may not be the target audience for middle grade anymore but Tui T。 Sutherland still writes enjoyable books。I really enjoyed this! The dangerous gift is the fourth book in the third arc of this series。 It is set in the point of view of Snowfall, queen of the ice wings。 She is highly strung, full of anxiety and can be cold。 But I ended up warming up to her by the end of the book。 Tui came up with a very clever way to get points of views of characters on the other continent。 Fans will love the reappearance of some old favourites from other arcs。 The ending I found totally creepy but my kids did not。 My kids love this series a The dangerous gift is the fourth book in the third arc of this series。 It is set in the point of view of Snowfall, queen of the ice wings。 She is highly strung, full of anxiety and can be cold。 But I ended up warming up to her by the end of the book。 Tui came up with a very clever way to get points of views of characters on the other continent。 Fans will love the reappearance of some old favourites from other arcs。 The ending I found totally creepy but my kids did not。 My kids love this series and we usually read each new book together and then they will read it multiple times by themselves。 It is a series just as entertaining for adults who love dragons as it is for kids。 I do recommend for older kids because they can be violent at times。 My kids rate this 5 stars。It was another great story from Tui, as expected。 。。。more

This book was amazing!! The series was starting to go downhill and I was sort of scared to continue the series, but this book made up for all of it。 I loved Snowfall’s character development and by the end she had definitely become one of my favorite characters。 Although my favorite is most certainly still Cricket!!!! I love her so freaking much!!!! Blue is a close second, his character is so kind and I love it。 I hate that he’s being brain washed and hurting all those people he cares about, but This book was amazing!! I also love Glory though and she’s doing an amazing job ruling the night wings and the rain wings。 Snowfall is 100% being added to my favorites list but if it gets any longer I might just have to say everyone is my favorite😂 If your a fan of the Wings of Fire series, YOU HAVE TO READ THIS BOOK!!!!! 💯 ⭐️!!! 。。。more

I really didn't think I'd cry at this book and, I almost didn't but that last chapter really hit me hard。although I kind of dreaded starting it at first because I really didn't like snowfall, this book really surprised me。and I think that snowfall and lynx's relationship is really adorable。all in all I really loved this book and I'm still processing everything that happened in it tbh。okay I think that's all I can say about this book without spoiling it lmfao I really didn't think I'd cry at this book and, I almost didn't but that last chapter really hit me hard。although I kind of dreaded starting it at first because I really didn't like snowfall, this book really surprised me。and I think that snowfall and lynx's relationship is really adorable。all in all I really loved this book and I'm still processing everything that happened in it tbh。okay I think that's all I can say about this book without spoiling it lmfao 。。。more

Rounded up: As it stands, I'd probably give it a 2。5This book is only a bit better than Darkness of Dragons, which is actually quite tragic。 It suffers from the same problem as Darkness of Dragons ironically, building up high stake tensions ending on a cliffhanger the book before, only for it to grind to an absolute holt this book。 This book was just pure setup for the next book, with nothing interesting enough happening in it to give it the charm I fell in love with Wings of Fire for。 Nothing r Rounded up: As it stands, I'd probably give it a 2。5This book is only a bit better than Darkness of Dragons, which is actually quite tragic。 It suffers from the same problem as Darkness of Dragons ironically, building up high stake tensions ending on a cliffhanger the book before, only for it to grind to an absolute holt this book。 This book was just pure setup for the next book, with nothing interesting enough happening in it to give it the charm I fell in love with Wings of Fire for。 Nothing really changed at all this book, and any looks into what's happening at Plantala is far more interesting than what is happening in Pyrhia。 I understand why the author did the book in Pyrhia, I just really wish she instead focused on a dragon left at Plantala, covering whats important in the pro/epilouge。 That being sad, Snowfall's internal struggles in this book are very relatable, and the segment where we learn Jerboa's story is without a doubt the best part of the book。 I hope we get a legends or at least a winglet exploring it in more depth。 。。。more

If I'm being honest, Snowfall annoyed me a little bit at times, though it was wonderful to see her character growth! I loved Lynx and her relationship with Snowfall, Tui T。 Sutherland, as always, did a fantastic job on the dialogue and interactions。 In conclusion, this definitely wasn't my favourite book in the series, but it left me wishing for the next book! 。。。more

I have to say this started a little slow for me。 Maybe where it had been a while since I did a reread of the series。 Also took a while for Queen Snowfall to grow on me, but by the end I really liked her a lot。 The books to me seem to be getting shorter tho。 For them to be so long in between books, you would think there would be more details making them longer。 Overall I liked the book, just wish there was more of it。 Cant wait to see how this wraps up。 Also would love a Clearsight super edition I have to say this started a little slow for me。 Maybe where it had been a while since I did a reread of the series。 Also took a while for Queen Snowfall to grow on me, but by the end I really liked her a lot。 The books to me seem to be getting shorter tho。 For them to be so long in between books, you would think there would be more details making them longer。 Overall I liked the book, just wish there was more of it。 Cant wait to see how this wraps up。 Also would love a Clearsight super edition at some point! 。。。more

I always forget how funny these books are until I start one and then suddenly I'm laughing so hard I'm crying。 Snowfall needs a nap omg。 But while this was clearly mostly just a setup for the next book, I loved Snowfall's character development and to be back on Pyrrhia (and it was also interesting to see dragons we knew from Snowfall's suspicious, largely-in-the-dark POV)。 I also liked how the characters from Dragonslayer came into play, and I do appreciate knowing where the the final book is go I always forget how funny these books are until I start one and then suddenly I'm laughing so hard I'm crying。 Snowfall needs a nap omg。 But while this was clearly mostly just a setup for the next book, I loved Snowfall's character development and to be back on Pyrrhia (and it was also interesting to see dragons we knew from Snowfall's suspicious, largely-in-the-dark POV)。 I also liked how the characters from Dragonslayer came into play, and I do appreciate knowing where the the final book is going and how such conflicts are going to be resolved (considering how incredibly confused I was after The Poison Jungle)。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 This was a pretty solid book, not many complaints from me。 I really enjoy how even though this series has been going on for quite a while, I still want to keep up with the series and I'm always looking forward to the next book。That said。。。 this book definitely felt like a filler book。 Not like it wasn't good though! I thought that Snowfall's character development was done very well, considering she was really just introduced for the first time here。 The "young-queen-who-is-definitely-not-ready-to-be-queen-and-is-wayyyy-too-paranoid" character was super interesting, and she developed well into a confident queen over the course of the book。 I'm glad her entire development wasn't dependant on the magic items she had because then her development would feel kind of cheap。 That whole thing with the crown that makes you hate Nightwings though? That was kind of weird, I don't think it was really necessary to say that Snowfall was only super paranoid of Nightwings because of this weird crown (at least that's what they were implying I think)。 It's totally reasonable for her to be paranoid of Nightwings in her position, and to then develop past that after learning more about the experiences of other dragons! It took that part of her development away when the last 10 pages were like "Oh yeah, that crown that we always had to say was super heavy and spooky? Yeah, it makes you hate Nightwings and that's why Snowfall was being paranoid over this one specific thing, not because we literally set her character up to be like that because of the stressful position she's been put into and the lack of support she has。Ok, maybe I have more qualms with this book than I thought。Regardless!! I think this book was still quite good。 My only other problem is that it felt more like a filler book since the overarching plot of this arc wasn't really pushed forward at all。 The entire book felt like it was setting everything up for the next book and just generally filling in any plot holes that might be around。Also, the whole thing with discovering the scavengers can speak Dragon and they're apparently the key to this whole mess? That was really abrupt。 I think it's cool that humans are becoming more important in the series (I should probably read Dragonslayer soon)。 But it was just very weird how the whole thing was introduced into the story。 Like Snowfall is just watching over this pet scavenger for a couple of minutes and then this random dragon, Sky, comes out of nowhere? And what's up with the story implying that Snowfall is interested in Sky??? If that becomes a romantic subplot, then I'm done。Ok, I started this review with 4 stars and now we're down to 3。 I'm going to stop overanalyzing this dragon book for middle school kids now。 。。。more

Okay。 Good book。 It was fine。 Snowfall's perspective was interesting enough, even if she sounded like a whiney child most of the time。 (Spoilers duh)When I opened the page and the prologue began with my FAVORITE boi, Swordtail, I was overjoyed!! Oh, and Blue too。My complaint? The INFODUMPING。 Holy moly。 Snowfall wasn't a complicated character from the start。 She was young, her thoughts and feelings were simple and predictable。 She was the perfect vessel to explain what was happening in the actual plot over on Pantala。 And it was infuriating! Reading from literally any other perspective of someone on the Lost Continent would've been a million times more interesting and just work better for the story。 This was nothing but "what should we do with the leafwings now that they're on Pyrrhia?" and "meanwhile where the villain and characters you actually care about (except Sundew and Cricket who just did nothing) are, Wasp is getting stronger"。 Look, I get it。 This book is the build-up to the super epic 5th book of the arc that'll come next。 But there was NO action。 It felt like a fanfiction of an Icewing OC that was just alive during the time of the Pantala & Breath of Evil stuff going on。 Not an actual book that'll contribute to the overall arc in any important way。 While this was disappointing, it was still written solidly enough。 The prologue was the highlight for me because SWORDTAIL, but all the different perspectives were written really well。 With only a few sentences you could get a real feel for the character。 If only Queen Snowfall herself could've been written with that much thought and care。 。。。more

I also absolutely LOVE the way she thinks about other dragons especially as she's learning to see the world through their eyes。 I have to admit some of the names she called the other dragons made me laugh out loud and COMPLETELY annoyed my one 10 yr old twin who was in line to read the book next。 Sutherland does another incredible job of making us fall for her protagonist all the while giving us new twists and turns we didn't see coming。 Book #6 WAS my favorite but now I think this one is。 All I have to say is if you hate Snowfall at first, give her time, because it's totally worth it。 I love reading these with my kids and feel like it's one of the best Middle School type aged series I've read in a long while。 5 stars! 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 My favorite character is Lynx, she is thoughtful and kind (sometimes) and very smart。 I was surprised when The Gift Of Sight gave Queen Snowfall a vision of Opal, the Animus dragon who created the ring。 I thought the ending was a great way to finish up, though I would’ve liked it if there were more action scenes in the book。 (I for one like some action)。 But overall, I thought it was genius。

Honestly not my favourite WoF book in the series。 It did answer most of the questions that lingered from book 13, the start just failed to engage me like most of the WoF books did from the beginning。 Let’s just say I’m looking forward to book 15 because I think it’ll be better (as in, more development will happen)。
